Remember the book cover I made a couple of weeks back? Here is another one, this time it is a redesign of the original cover that my writer friend got, which makes this design technically a prequel of the last one. Truth be told, since I already use the time theme for the second cover, I don't know what to use, and end up just creating something abstract and slightly creepy that features the novel's ten main character. As simple of an idea as it is, my writer friend absolutely LOVES it. Now she hates her actual cover even more...

In case you wonder, the logo of the book (which I modified from an established font in a super-rare attempt that I do anything relating to font-design since I suck at this kind of things) said 'Mystery Academy: Time Reaper', the name of the book. It is in Thai, of cause.

Sunday - New pokemons = awesome

The new season of Pokemon is coming out in Japan next week. (This will be the 5th generation of Pokemon in case you've lost count.) There is a new Pokemon that I am particularly excited about, a buffalo with an afro. Yes, a bufflafro. I've wanted a buffalo Pokemon since gen 3 and he will most likely be a permanent member on my team. Best 5th generation Pokemon? I think so.

My opinion on Resident Evil Afterlife

I know that the-black-guy-always-dies has become a late cliche in the more modern horror films (not that I really consider the RE movies to be actual horror films), but this latest film makes his survival quite notable because logically he shouldn't be able to survive. He also has rather notable role compare to the other newly introduced character, and I think I like him a bit, so I would give the film credit for that.

Yet, I can not forgive the producer for thinking that this joker can pass for the sexily menace Wesker! Wesker is the guy who makes being a psycho megalomaniac hot, and the film totally ruins it. Also, how could they not show Wesker turning into awesome monster while being shirtless?

I know I sound a bit like a crazy fangirl, but that was seriously disappointing. The mediocre action scenes don't help to improve my opinion on the movie either. At least Alice is still hot, and she looks so good killing zombies.

*Since the blog seems a big barren and I have a need to rant, so I guess I am doing a late comic today :3

One of my friends who is a writer suffered considerably when she saw the cover that her publisher picked for her last book (as covered in one of my old blog post http://www.eggnog.me/2009/12/crappy-covers-manly-front-emoboy-story.html ), so when she is about to send in her latest story, she asked me to provide something in the last minute. Basically, she told me last Friday that I need to finish a cover for her by Sunday's night. I spent Friday reading nearly 1000 pages of story and made out a couple of sketches for her, then work like hell during the weekend before heading to NY for a job interview without getting any sleep. At least she is satisfied, although it remains to be seen whether her editor would like it too or not. (Writers in Thailand don't have any control over their book's design. Most designers/illustrators aren't even required to know ANY detail about the book, hence the usual misleading cover.) The last cover that the editor gave her was basically a reject from another writer's book...

Even though this isn't one of my better work, it comes quite close to what the writer wanted and envisioned, so it can probably be called a success. I hope that this cover would be chosen though. My friend, Poony, is a very talented young writer (who can earn her living and her entire college fee from her books at the age of 20) and she deserves better than crappy design that the publisher halfheartedly throw at her.

Here is a little game thingy I made for today. I wasn't sure if I should of made it a girl or a boy, so I gave it a Justin Beiber hairstyle. IT COULD BE BOTH.
This was made late last night and I don't understand why I didn't give this person a shirt... You can use the noses as mouths if you want or vice versa since my noses and mouths look kind of the same. Hehe.

I'm spending my night tonight finishing off some sculptures for friends and family and then I've got a few jobs to finish before I get started illustrating a kids book! Hey guys! Sorry I'm late this week. I'm getting ready for the school year and Its been a busy weekend moving into my new apartment. I've got lots to show you though! I've been a sculpting fiend lately. I sculpted some Papilla monster guys. I'm doing a series of three Papillas in dancing poses. My girlfriend and I have been watching all of the Studio Ghibli movies and she fell in love with the tree spirits from Princess Moninoke and I love the totoro characters so we spent a rainy day inside sculpting cool Ghibli characters for each other. Neather of them are done but as soon as they are I'll post pictures of them on my blog. Same with the dancing Papillas. And the blue sculpture in my had is a dank girl inspired female nude I started last summer that I decided to start working on again. I'm a little intimidated to do the face. It looks great so far so I don't want to ruin it check the blog for that one soon too.

I also quit my summer job at Culvers so I'll be starting up the storyboards for my thesis very soon. I'm hoping to get a few jobs out of the way so I can concentrate on them and post some cool story based stuff here by next week. See you then folks.

Here is a rough sketch on a character that I'm working for a thesis all I will say is that he is an alien, it's going to made into a puppet and a clay figure has been made. That is all I don't want to give away the story but a very talented friend has helped me build the story into a very entertaining script. The same guy whom I'm making a comic series for.

ALRIGHT here's some ideas for the A.R.T. banner. My computer died so I have to draw... on PAPER (gasp).

It was kind of fun. I looked at Glen Keane's "Tangled" stuff before I did this so I started using heavy marks like he does. Also the Rapunzel bit. But really I just wanted to draw Ruess in a dress.

Shoes and sex jokes

Since my drawing equipments plus printers are packed away for moving, I shall present you with dated works of mine. They are doodles I made for my friend's fashion blog last year. She is obsessed with shoes, hence the giant shoes in the image. If you ask why pink, the reason is because we both like pink (although we don't like wearing it)

Also, on an entirely unrelated matter, I would like to recommend a couple of my mostest favorite webcomics just for the heck of it. One mentions a lot of sex-related jokes, and another features a hell lot of sex-related jokes. I love the humor and the drawing style of these two artists, and I wish that some day I can make something equally as awesome.

Pass the File First Draft

Hey Guys! For this week I put a little bit of time into the banner of the A.R.T- Animators of the Round Table website. Its been a summer project that we've really needed to get started so I'm glad I made the time to.

Also I apologize for not posting any comics in a really long time. I've failed to entertain you but that will soon be coming to an end. I'm planning on starting up the story development of my thesis cartoon and I want to post it as a comic here on toilet rice as I create it. It'll sort of be my more detailed story board. So look out folks! Here comes the story of Conjure! And I'll finally be putting that cute little Papilla monster to good use.

Anyways I hope you like the little bit of work I got done on the header image for the ART website. I plan on putting more work into it but not tonight its one of my rare and few days off and I've got thesis stuff I'm anxious to get to so I'm passing it to the next person.

Hey guys! Sorry I've been slacking lately. I've been looking really hard for that magical idea to commit to for the next year for my thesis film. I've been trying to figure out where this time I have this summer around work, would be best spent to help me with my thesis. I'm not sure if this is what my this is going to be but I'm darn excited about it. My room hasn't been this trashed in a long time. and thats a good time. I'm so exited about a project that i'm to busy to clean up or even shower for that matter. I stink and I couldn't be happier about it :)

I wish I had more to post this week but heres a little progress update. I'm working up a little stop motion armature of my Papilla Monster. I began trying to traditionally animate him doing the Pee Wee Herman dance then I got hired for a freelance job that requires me to sculpt and as went through my clay stuff I had from last summer I realized I had bought all I needed to make a pretty good armature so I dropped the other project and decided to continue my papilla dancing project but in 3d stop motion! Its coming out really great too. It word great so far but I'm still sort of find out how to do things as I go. Like the skin for example. The eyes are drying right now (I'm trying to make them really glassy) but I'll be sculpting the face and beginning to figure out a replaceable mouth system soon. I'm also trying to figure out the feet. I'm broke so im just rummaging the house for things I can use. And its all hours of the night because I work until 11 most nights (sorry mom).

Shoot me some tips if you've got any! let me know what you think. Am I crazy? Is this a good thesis route?

If any guy around there wants to make a point that I am a wincing pansy, try bleeding constantly from your crotch while walking around in semi-ballet posture for 15 hours for days and tell me how you like it.

I know that many women absolutely adore heels, and they can wear what they would like to wear. I just hate the fact that I have to even though I absolutely loath the heels. I guess we all have to do what we have to do, for the heck of whatever.

Hey Guys. I finally did a comic! oh yea and sorry I'm a little later than usual with this post. Blogger has been down!
This was a comic I tryed to start while I was in Vegas for my 21st and I couldn't bring myself to finish it. But that first panel was done in Las Vegas. The rest was done today and it kind of reminded me who I am. I've been trying to take in all the influences I can and almost forgot what Its like to do things the way I would do them. W.W.M.D. Its kinda got me stoked on doing comics again now. So maybe next week I'll keep it going. that is if I don't get crazy enough to try and finish an animation. Ok well see you then viewers.

I really need to learn some more shortcuts around Flash though because drawing every frame is almost as ridiculously time consuming as doing it on paper.

No real post today because I SUCK. I suck, you guys. I'm sorry. I will post something extra cool next week to make up for it. Well, I probably won't. But I'll try. Maybe I'll finish that animation I was working on on Monday...

Regardless, this week I started a new blog for all of my (hopefully) thesis-related work. I plan on doing my concept (tentatively) called "Elements", which is a giant character design/story project where I personify all of the elements from the periodic table and attempt to make a convincing tv series pitch out of it.

Madness, you say? I concur. Wholeheartedly.

But behold, my Elements Blog! Go to it, and check for updates. Be distracted from my failures. :c

School has ended (once and for all). My visiting family is back in my homeland. Sound like a good time to finally have a life again, right?

Actually no.

As stupid as it may sound. I have been so used to being fuckingOHMYGODICANTDOTHISINTIMEIAMGOINGTOKILLMYSELF busy that being NOT busy freak me out and even make me a little depress. The fact that I am currently a graduated hyper semi-workaholic with no job doesn't make me that perkier. Might get use to it after a while though.

BTW, my friend borrowed my wacom tablet. Also, if you happen to have a job, OMG PLEASE GIVE ME ONE. Thanks.

Since the lab hours suck, It's hard for me to make comics. But I'm going to start Brady Street 101. Brady street is full of hipsters, old hippies and other sorts of strange characters and I have been drawing people there lately. For today I drew the Bag Man, for 5 years I have seen this guy walking around and going to coffee shops, caring around two magic bags. I have finally drew this guy because he just stands out and reminds me of a little frog/ Danny Devito.
